Printing Tannhauser Maps at Home.

First let me say that if you don’t already have the ability to print large/medium format, it may be cheaper to use a printing service, many local print shops, and office stores like Staples can print some- thing as big as 26”x26” for $20-$40 depending on paper quality, etc..

But if you think your going to do this a lot or you just like to doing things yourself here’s what I use…

New Game Mechanics…

Risk Legacy is Hasbro’s next iteration of the Risk series that bring with it a new play mechanic to the Risk world.

pic1070259

This new Risk uses a system of truly PERMANENT changes, where players “build” the world in the first few games. Here is Hasbro’s blurb on this:

In Risk Legacy, every game you play will change every future game. A decision you make in Game 1 could come back to haunt you in Game 10. The risks you take in Risk Legacy are not like those in any other board game. You and the other players will shape how your world evolves: its history, its cities, even its factions and how they fight. Cards and stickers will come into play. Cards will go out of play forever. You don't forget past betrayals – and neither does the game.

Unlock new rules and watch events unfold as you play more games. No two games will EVER be the same.

To make these changes you will use things like: stickers on the board and in the rule book, a permanent marker, and you will tear up cards after their use. According to the press material most of the “changes” will have occurred by the 15th game, and after that players have a custom version of Risk they can continue to play.

All of these concepts are very intriguing, and while I wouldn’t want to bring real permanent changes to Tannhauser, some of the concepts like evolving rules and persistent map alterations could make for some interesting scenario/campaign mechanics.

For more on this unique game concept check out the sale sheet: here. I know I’m defiantly looking forward to this one.

August Bonus Token

Well August is here and soon summer will be winding down, so it’s time to get out there and cut some wood for the long winter ahead.

Sorry for the delay in posting this month’s token, but these thing happen.

The Chainsaw

Chainsaws are very effective tools for removing limbs either from trees or your enemies.

Weapon, Hand-to-Hand • Discard this token at any time during your activation to make an attack with this weapon. Additionally when attacking with this weapon each natural 10 you roll counts as two successes.

Further, when making a free melee attack after an opponent's failed Bull Rush, you may use this weapon without discarding it. See page 17 for more info of the “free melee attack” rule.

Natalya Update:

Here is the concept art I previously mentioned, it can be found at the bottom of page 61 of the Revised Rule book.

As always click the above image for a larger version.

There is no mention in the Revised Rules as to who or what this image refers to, but it is clearly the same character concept as Natalya.

Also FFG has set Natayla’s launch date for Q4 2011, so she should be out between October and December.

Natayla Joins the Fight

Yet another Matriarchy slash Union character was just announced today, Natayla, an apparent “Epic Hero”.

Here is more from FFG: Natalya is an Epic Hero and comes with additional rules for inclusion in your team. Her primary loyalty is to Oksana, whom she believes to be a reborn hero of the bylinas in the flesh. This means she can serve the Matriarchy, or follow Oksana to the Union. Or with the rules for the UMTOMA, Natalya can serve the tenuous alliance between Matriarchy and Union forces, created to oppose the Reich and Shogunate forces united by the Nippon Accord.

Where I have been…

I know I have not updated in a while, and for that I apologize. But I recently started a new job as a First Responder with a private EMS. So, my blog has taken a bit of a back seat; after I settle in a bit I’m sure I’ll be able to post more often, but for now my work is priority.
